Sarah Filcher biography

Sarah brings a wide breadth of personal and professional experience fighting for LGBTQ+ people of all ages, especially LGBTQ+ youth in crisis.  Having volunteered for over four years at a free walk-in legal clinic, she is well-versed on a variety of critical civil legal issues impacting the everyday lives of members of the LGBTQ communities. She is a Staff Attorney within the LGBTQ Legal Project at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (“LSHV”). Prior to joining LSHV, Sarah advocated for low-income residents of Brooklyn at risk of foreclosure at the Brooklyn Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Sarah is currently serving as the Vice President of the LGBT Bar Association Foundation of Greater New York (“LeGaL”) and will be joining the National LGBT Bar Association Membership & Diversity Committee in 2020.
