Access to justice requires competent legal advocacy, and yet too often victims of crime do not receive the legal representation they need to protect their rights.  You can help! On March 2, 2012, the country’s leading experts on victim law from the National Crime Victim Law Institute (NCVLI) and its partner clinic, Arizona Voice for Crime Victims, will conduct a full day practical skills continuing legal education course at the Phoenix School of Law. 

This course has been developed primarily for lawyers and will provide a general overview of crime victims’ rights law, guide you through the basic steps involved in representing crime victims, and teach the “how to’s” of asserting crime victims’ rights in Arizona state courts.  The training will focus on pretrial practice by highlighting commonly occurring issues that may require motion practice and discussing ways to litigate those issues.  The training will also identify key issues that may require motion practice during trial or post-conviction stages. 

Whether you know nothing about victims’ rights or are already practicing, this training will provide you the tools to become an effective advocate for Arizona victims of crime.

The Arizona training is a part of a series of in-person and webinar continuing legal education courses to be taught throughout the country in 2012 by NCVLI and members of NCVLI’s bar association the National Alliance of Victims’ Rights Attorneys (NAVRA) on variety of victims’ rights topic.  For more information on the training series, please click here.
