This panel will first address issues of systemic inequities experienced by crime victims from underserved communities (citizens and noncitizens alike) utilizing as case studies the experiences of survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and human trafficking. The panel will discuss how such inequities manifest in practice for crime victims from underserved communities, such as the under identification of victims and the unjust criminalization of victims. This panel will end with providing legal tools practitioners from various disciplines can utilize to ensure the legal rights of ALL crime victims are protected and ALL have equal access to justice.
