Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement is part of the User Agreement for the website (“NAVRA Site”) of the National Alliance of Victims’ Rights Attorneys and Advocates ("NAVRA"), a project of the National Crime Victim Law Institute (NCVLI).  The Privacy Statement describes how we handle any personally identifying information about NAVRA Site users, including information you voluntarily submit to NAVRA and the NAVRA Site.  By providing such information, you acknowledge and agree to NAVRA’s treatment of such information.

1. Non-Personal Identifying Information

The NAVRA Site collects and uses some non-personal identifying information, including IP addresses and web server log files. It also uses "cookies," small pieces of information used to identify individual computers accessing a website.  The NAVRA Site uses non-personal identifying information in the aggregate for reasons that include the assessment of aggregate visitor volume and interest in particular website pages.  NAVRA and NCVLI may share aggregated, non-personal identifying, demographic information about the NAVRA Site useage with their partners and sponsors.  For example, NCVLI might disclose to its donors that a certain number of individuals visited navra.org in a given year.

2. Personal Identifying Information

If you voluntarily provide personal identifying information (such as a first and last name, physical street address, e-mail address, etc.) to NAVRA or the NAVRA Site, NAVRA and NCVLI will collect and retain this information.

The personal identifying information will be used (a) to establish the identity of member account holders and to communicate with, respond to inquiries, or to deliver requested information or services; (b) to analyze actions taken through the NAVRA Site so that we can improve the information or services provided through this site; and (c) if you have not opted out, to periodically communicate with you concerning NAVRA and NCVLI, the NAVRA Site, and victims’ rights related events and matters.

NAVRA and NCVLI does not make personal identifying information gathered by NAVRA available to other organizations or individuals except:  (a) to the extent that you have voluntarily made certain information available to the NAVRA membership through (i) the online Member Directory or (ii) any listserv, bulletin board, chat, forums, and/or any other message or communication facilities or services that NAVRA may use to enable you to communicate with the NAVRA members at large or a particular group of NAVRA members (“Communication Services”); and (b) to the extent that information must be shared with NAVRA or NCVLI’s business partners in the usual course of business, such as the use of a third-party vendor to electronically distribute e-newsletters, communicate with you, and process online payments.
